Steppin N Style
Steppin N Style was founded by Patrick Moore, a native of Memphis, Tennessee. Patrick Moore has always had a passion for dancing. Chicago style Stepping was introduced to Memphis in 2006, the smooth and gracefulness of this dance captivated his attention.
Patrick and Shasta would help teach this dance to the older and younger generation to help enrich the community with greater options of the dance. Stepping N Style is a more Progressive class which teaches techniques, various turn patterns and footwork.
Smooth Steppers of Memphis
In April 2009, Patrick had a vision to bring the Stepping Community together under one umbrella and that's when Smooth Steppers of Memphis was formed. The group consists of Bluff City Steppers and Steppin N Style. As a group we explored the dance. We went out into the community to do demonstrations and to teach classes to open the minds of people young and old. As a whole we have traveled to different cities, ex: St. Louis, Atlanta, Chicago, Nashville, Montgomery and surrounding areas. As a group we are very passionate about taking this dance to another level.

Bluff City Steppin & Beyond
Ernestine Reser, Ardell Reser, Patrick Moore, Shasta Sharp and Doris Matthews were among the first students to learn and teach the dance at the Senior Center for the initial classes. They then decided to open it to a younger crowd at the gym in the evenings. They wanted to expose this elegant dance to the younger generation to enrich the community with greater options of dance, other than the ‘dropping it like it’s hot’.
Over the years, other students learned and became instructors to help evolve the dance.
At this time, it was decided by the group to change the name to Bluff City Steppin and Beyond and is under the direction of Doris, Ernestine and Barbara. We currently focus on teaching the beginning stages of the dance, which is called the ‘Basics’.
